Jackal

Jackal is a small, fast, entry-level field robotics research platform. It has an onboard computer, GPS and IMU fully integrated with ROS for out-of-the-box autonomous capability. As with all Clearpath robots, Jackal is plug-and-play compatible with a huge list of robot accessories to quickly expand your research and development.

Features

Powerful and compact: Add sensors, cameras and other accessories to Jackal's simple installation platform, use 5V, 12V or 24V power options, and easily connect cables to the built-in onboard PC. Want to expand? The internal area can be used for additional computing power or storage.

All terrain and weatherproof: Jackal is made of a sturdy aluminum chassis that uses a high-torque 4×4 transmission system for rugged all-terrain operation. It has an IP62 weatherproof enclosure and a rated operating temperature of -20 degrees Celsius or +45 degrees Celsius. All connections are made through compressed foam cable management ports to communicate with external payloads without the need for complex sealing.

Customizable accessories: Choose from an extensive list of compatible sensors, cameras, and other accessories to integrate through Jackal's simple installation interface. Use 5V, 12V or 24V power options, easily connect to the built-in onboard PC, the internal area can be used for additional computing power or storage.

JETSON TX2 DEVELOPER PACKAGE: We’ve partnered with NVIDIA to offer a Jackal built around the Jetson TX2: a fast, efficient computing device, ideal for robotics development. The JETSON TX2 developer package takes advantage of NVIDIA’s standard hardware interfaces and graphics processing capabilities. Built around a powerful GPU and loaded with 8GB of memory and 59.7 GB/s of memory bandwidth, the Jetson is the preferred computing platform for VSLAM, 3D imaging and machine learning applications.

EXPLORER PACKAGE: The Jackal Explorer Package is designed for basic autonomous operation in both indoor and outdoor environments. Applications range from GPS waypoint navigation with laser-based collision avoidance, to indoor mapping and path planning. A powerful Mini-ITX computer system comes pre-installed with Linux and ROS; all component ROS drivers are installed and pre-configured.

JACKAL VISION PACKAGE: The Jackal Vision Package includes two front-facing Flea3 cameras for stereo vision, an upgraded GPU graphics card and a high performance computer. This package comes with a pre-installed CUDA toolkit, and is fully supported with ROS, RViz (visualization), and Gazebo (simulator).
